WELL – Volunteers

We offer volunteer positions in the Adult English Program and in WELL Kids. Please fill out the Volunteer Application and select where you would like to serve. If you are unsure, indicate this on the form and Marsha Greiner will contact you.

Training starts in August and classes are each week from the end of August to mid-May on Thursday night from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive by 6:15 PM.

Volunteer Positions for Adult English Program

Adult English Classroom Teacher

Create a positive, collaborative, and safe learning environment for coaches and students.
Assist and encourage students in setting and reaching goals.
Work in conjunction with the Adult Education Director to create engaging lessons.
Use a variety of curriculum sources and research-based ESL teaching strategies.

Adult Coach

Work with 3-6 students to practice conversations and assist with lessons
Work with the classroom teacher to build relationships with students and create and maintain a welcoming, positive classroom experience.

Substitute Coach

If you have less time, substituting as a classroom coach is a perfect way to serve in either an adult or children’s classroom.

Volunteer Positions for WELL Kids Program

Children’s Classroom Co-Teacher (adult):

Create a welcome, safe and fun learning environment for children
Lessons are preplanned for you to lead, with stories, crafts, and activities provided
Promote learning and homework help in a classroom setting with a co-teacher
Build relationships with children and guide teen assistants in the classroom

Children’s Classroom Volunteer
(adult sub or teen assistant)

Greet and welcome children to class.
Assist with classroom activities-story, craft, games, homework
Build relationships with children in a fun, safe, playful atmosphere that promotes learning.

Support Positions

Admin Support Team

Several positions are available on the support team: information desk, set-up and tear down, and safety team.

Setup & Reset

Set-up starts at 2 PM on Thursday afternoon, reset at 9 AM on Friday mornings.

Safety Team

Safety team members volunteer from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Thursday nights.

Classes

Classes are weekly
Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
