ESL Teaching Resources

Volunteer Classroom Coach (Adult classes or children’s classes)

Greet and welcome students to class.
Work with 3-6 students at a table to practice conversations, assist students with lessons, and review homework under the guidance of a classroom teacher. (Adults)
Work with the classroom teacher to build relationships with students and create & maintain a welcoming, positive classroom experience.
Build relationships with children in a fun, safe, playful atmosphere that promotes learning. (Children)

Volunteer Teen Children’s Classroom Coach (14 & older)

Greet and welcome children to class.
Assist the Children’s classroom teacher & coach with classroom activities.
Build relationships with children in a fun, safe, playful atmosphere that promotes learning.

Adult or Teen (16 & older) Nursery & Toddler caregivers

Greet the parents & welcome infants or toddlers.
Provide care for infants and toddlers while they play or nap in a safe, fun friendly environment.
Ask about feeding or special instructions for each child’s care.
Comfort & help children adjust to being away for their parent while their parents are in class.

Event Planning Team

Assist the leadership team, classroom teachers & coaches in planning for special events.
Make the necessary advance preparations, decorations, etc. for special events.
Serve and oversee tear down of the event.
Special events: Emergency Services Night, 10/10/2024; Christmas celebration 12/19/2024; International Night 3/20/2025; Awards Night 5/15/2025

Volunteer Classroom Teacher (Adult classes or children’s classes)

Create lesson plans using curriculum selected by WELL.
Communicate with and guide volunteer classroom coaches.
Teach & evaluate the learning needs of students.
Create & maintain a welcoming, positive classroom atmosphere.
Facilitate a classroom where adult students learn and build relationships while practicing conversational English. (Adults)
Facilitate a classroom where children of adult students feel safe, loved, and well cared for while playing and learning. (Children)

Classes are weekly
Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
All classes are at Chapel Rock Christian Church.
